Guess few folk do. And perhaps that may be the impetus for a small minority to act dishonestly or unfairly in order to get through their exams. But once you do that you lose, whatever the circumstances.
The overarching principle of the Code of Ethics is that of Integrity. This imposes an obligation on all professional accountants to be straightforward and honest in all professional and business relationships. So trying to take an unpermitted short cut in your paper and therefore breaching exam regulations, you may find that instead of awaiting your results you are awaiting a date for a conduct hearing.
All registered students are bound by the Code and it is worth considering how it applies to your approach in all your working life – including your studies. The Code has much to offer in guiding you through challenging times in business, helping safeguard the reputation of professional accountants as trusted advisers. So if a student is found to be undermining this there are clear consequences that go beyond your results being cancelled.
Our new campaign helps bring attention to ensuring our students respect each other in relation to the exam process and act with integrity in pursuing their studies in order to achieve professional standing. Which is the key goal. Attaining the knowledge to be a trusted professional. When someone is found cheating consider the words that would be used about them. Take a minute right now and see what comes to mind.
The purpose of assessment is to test your knowledge and application of it. Taking short cuts loses you the opportunity to build and grow yourself as a competent and skilled individual. Challenges and assessments of your abilities continue throughout life, when there's no scope to hide or cheat. You ultimately may lose out professionally and personally. You’d be a fool.
